Several of our best long term clients are involved in the ownership of Sagarra and it was exciting to cheer him on to his fourth win – an exciting performance at Sale on Sunday.
Jumping well from the outside gate in the 1100m BM64 event, the consistent bay was quickly on pace, around the back of the track taking an early lead for promising apprentices Campbell Rawiller.
Tracking out wide into the straight, Sagarra was there to be beaten but brief challenges on his in and outside coming to nothing – the five-year-old kicking strongly to salute by an impressive 3 1/2 lengths.
“He was terrific,” Robbie enthused, adding that “he writing was on the wall last start when beaten by a smart horse and he did not disappoint running away for a big victory… great for his connections!”
Bred by the Pearce family’s Princeton Thoroughbred Stud, Sagarra is a son of Galileo’s dual Gr.1 winning son Teofilo and he is the first foal for the unraced Exceed And Excel Mintbin whose dam is the stakes placed multiple city winner Sophistocat.
