It was a deserved breakthrough for Mysterious Art at Pakenham on Thursday evening, the tough three-year-old boasting consistent lead-up form including gallant seconds at his two previous starts.
Going to the lead for Matthew Allen, the honest gelding had to dig deep to secure victory – shaking off one challenger half way down the straight before having to hold off another late… and he did so in gutsy style!
“He was terrific breaking his maiden,” Robbie said.
“He has always shown us talent and was knocking on the door so it was nice to see it open on Thursday. He looks a nice horse who will now progress through the grades.”
Bred at Yarramalong in Queensland, Mysterious Art is by Snitzel’s Australian Guineas winner Wandjina out of the unraced Galileo mare Freshness. Served last spring by Bull Point, Freshness is also dam of the Morphettville winner Innovative Jill.
Mysterious Art’s grandam is the stakes placed import Highest Cool, dam of the Light Fingers Stakes winner Rock Me Baby.
