The second leg of our Pakenham winning double, The Terricks deserved his win in the Hollies Closet Handicap, having found his share of bad luck at previous outings.
Nicely ridden by Ryan Maloney, the five-year-old was always travelling well in the 1600m contest, happy to trail the pace and always looking a big chance - racing in a nice rhythm with his ears pricked.
Peeling out three wide into the straight, The Terricks hit the lead 200m from home and away he went, racing away to win by an impressive 2 1/4 lengths.
"He has been plagued with bad luck at his last few starts so it was nice to see something go his way," Robbie Griffiths said.
"Ryan put him in a perfect position to give him room, allowing him to work into the race. And he really hit his straps to go away to a dominant win."
"He has always had the talent," Robbie continued, "but he has found all the bad luck. Hopefully that is behind him now as there looks to be more wins in store."
A bargain $12,000 purchase at the 2012 Melbourne Premier, The Terricks - who has amassed over $140,000 in stakes - is raced by Robbie & Shiranee Griffiths, Sharon Muraca, Frosty's Snowmen, Simon Crawford, B Crawford, Neville Blake, Cameron Fisher, Vanessa Fisher, Strathmore Veterans No 1, Iron Horse, Ian Whiting, Paul Miall, David Ward and Peter Morey.
A son of Kapchat, The Terricks is a half-brother to the stakes placed Home Sweet from a strong Victorian family whose members include the stakes winners Berberia, Tindal, Chattanooga, Ascorbic, Fantisha and Real Stolle.
