It was a welcome change of luck for Powerossa at Pakenham on Saturday, the four-year-old back in the winner's circle having endured her share of bad luck at recent outings.
Appreciating a drop in class and distance, the daughter of God's Own had been trapped wide from trick gates at her two previous outings but from barrier one this time she was always going to prove hard to beat.
Settling midfield for regular jockey Matthew Allen, Powerossa took a tight run between rivals at the 250m, finding the line in determined fashion - in doing so recording the second success of her nine start career.
Raced by Bryan Newman, Geoffrey Salter, Peter Fadda, Andrew Leighton, Shane Skidmore, L A Newman and Quod Bonum 2 (manager Matt Curtis), Powerossa is the second foal and second winner produced by the city placed winner Saffrossa - a half-sister to the metropolitan winner Red Hustler.
"It was fantastic to see her back in the winner's stall," Robbie said.
"It was a great run aided by a terrific ride by Matthew Allen."
