Everyone at the stable was deeply saddened today to hear the news that bonny mare Angelic Light has passed away aged only seven.
Suffering from a colic attack at Widden Stud having foaled a lovely Sebring colt in mid-October, Angelic Light was a very special horse to the stable having won seven races including the Gr.2 Ian McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley and the Listed William Crockett Stakes at the same track.
And she went oh so close to elite level success with a gutsy close second to Lankan Rupee in the 2014 Manikato Stakes. She was also Group One placed in the Robert Sangster Stakes (second to Platelet) at her final outing in the Moir Stakes (third to Buffering).
"She was so good to Shiranee, myself and the stable," Robbie said. "She will be sadly missed and our deepest condolences go out to the owners."
Tributes poured through social media for Angelic Light with her former owners dismayed by the news. "Absolutely gutted," said Glen Boyington - "she gave her all no matter what race she ran in and she gave everybody some wonderful memories that we will carry for the rest of our lives."
"I am absolutely devastated to find out that Angel has passed away," said strapper Beth Schroen, "it still doesn't seem right walking into the stables and not seeing her face."
