A Notable Victory

Feb 25, 2017

It was a swooping victory recorded by Notable Choice at Kilmore, the promising three-year-old getting back from the tricky outside gate before swamping his rivals to break his maiden at his seventh start.

Unlucky at his previous outing having got too far back after missing the start, Notable Choice was appreciative of an extra 100m this time and he was able to put an impressive 1 1/2 lengths on his rivals over the final stages.

"He has always shown a lot of promise," Robbie said, "so it was great to see him get the win on the board."

"I am sure he can go on with it and move through his grades."

Bred in South Australia by Alpara Lodge, Notable Choice was - like the other leg of our double Le Boss - purchased by Robbie with Peter Ford. Secured at the 2015 Inglis Melbourne Premier, he is out of the Encosta de Lago mare El Shahar.

Served last spring by No Nay Never having produced a Sepoy colt in September, El Shahar is a half-sister to the Goodwood Handicap winner Zip Zip Zip Aray from the prolific Froth family that has produced the big race winners General Nediym, Horlicks, Brew, Interstellar, Nicconi, Niconero and Military Plume.
