Stable Star Retires
Mar 22, 2017
There was a round of applause for a rather special horse at Moonee Valley last Friday, but it was not for a winner.
Rather it was in appreciation, from a proud group of owners, for their grand galloper It Is Written who had just run his final race.
Purchased for just $45,000 at the 2010 Adelaide Magic Millions, the eye-catching son of Written Tycoon retires as the winner of $788,723 and the stable wish him the very best for his second career off the track.
A striking black, It Is Written is in high demand with Robbie noting that "we are working at finding him the best possible home and I am sure it will not be long before we see him around at shows!"
"He is a horse who has given us and his owners so much joy," Robbie said, adding that "he was a pleasure to have around the stable and will certainly be missed."
The winner of 11 of his 71 starts - with a further 15 placings to his credit - It Is Written had a particular love for Moonee Valley with eight of his victories coming on the Strathayr.
Two of those wins (and another at Caulfield) came at Listed level and he was also competitive in Group class, only just beaten by Mourinho in the Group One Australian Stakes (Horse Of The Year Dissident third) having run third in the same race twelve months previously.
Bred in South Australia by Riva Ridge Stud, It Is Written is one of six winners for the Danehill Dancer mare Winning Team whose grandam is the Edward Manifold Stakes winner Rebecca Gay.
