Dancing To Victory

What a great ride Dance With Fontein has taken her happy owners on, the four-year-old performing honestly throughout her career, one that has seen her win seven of her 23 starts.
"She has been fantastic," Robbie Griffiths enthused. "Right from the get-go she has been great and she has got stronger as she has matured - she has given us a whole lot of fun."
Sitting wide from the outside gate, Dance With Fontein was inclined to race with her head up - something she has done in the past when not afforded cover in running.
Despite this she still travelled well and she really let down from the 300m. Part of an exciting finish which saw five horses stretched across the track, Dance With Fontein got the upper-hand late, getting the best of her rivals at the 50m.
"She is going really well this preparation," said Beau Mertens who recorded his second win on the mare.
"Once I pulled her out into the straight I knew I had a lapful of horse under me."
Where Dance With Fontein goes now depends largely on the weather, the daughter of Turffontein handling the sting out but not appreciating tracks that are too wet.
Bred at Blue Gum Farm, Dance With Fontein is out of the Geiger Counter mare Nuclear Dance, dam of another three winners including the stable's multiple city winner Nuclear Force who has produced the dual Gr.3 winner Defcon.
Served last spring by Reward For Effort, Nuclear Dance hails from a good Victorian family, one that has also produced the VRC Oaks and 1000 Guineas winner Rom's Stiletto and two times Frances Tressady Stakes winner New Smyrna.
