Beale Streets Them Again!
Jun 01, 2017
Part of a big day - a winning treble - for one of our favourite jockeys Max Allen, Beale Street was impressive rising in class at Sale on Thursday, winning his second race in a row.
Strong to the line when breaking his maiden at Geelong in mid-May, the promising son of Choisir was up in both grade and distance and was particuarly gutsy - finishing on strongly out wide after getting into a bumping duel early in the straight.
Relishing the 1400m, Beale Street had been entered for an Inglis online sale on Wednesday evening but his owners - Robbie and Shiranee - were happy to pass him in and press ahead!
"Robbie has always thought that he is a really nice horse," Beth Schoen said, "and it is good to see him putting it altogether."
Allen who joked "I wish I could have a few more days like this," said that Beale Street has more to offer.
"He is still learning his craft. He can get a bit keen when he wants to, he can also be a bit lazy when he wants to so a bit hard to get him right."
"But he drew a good gate today, he got some cover and settled pretty well. He dropped the bit 600m out and took some riding but there is good upside there."
"He has the ability, he just has to catch up mentally and mature a bit more."
