Purely Too Good
Oct 29, 2017
Home-bred winners are always special as is the case with Purely Royal who recorded her second victory from just eight starts when successful at Echuca on Friday.
The daughter of Purrealist is the third foal and third winner for the city placed Royal Academy mare Prospect Royale... Robbie's own mare out of whom he also has youngsters by Purrealist and Canford Cliffs.
A mare Robbie had a high opinion of but who was sadly injured early, Prospect Royale has her two-year-old full sister to Purely Royal looking for owners at the moment... check out our "horses available" section!
One of Nathan Punch's two favourite fillies at the stable (the other being Northkape who he rode to victory the day before), Purely Royal was not the best out of the gates but quickly mustered speed to sit on the rails not far behind the leaders.
A lovely gap opened for her as the field turned for home and she was quickly to the lead, fighting gamely when challenged before getting clear from the 100m - her winning margin a soft 1 1/4 lengths.
"She still didn't quite know what to do when she hit the front," the stable's Jade Matthews said, "but she is just young and lightly raced, she still has plenty to learn."
Punch was delighted to win on a filly he has spent plenty of time with - "she always gives me a nice ride," he said, "she does everything right."
"It is great that the two fillies I've been doing a lot of work on have rewarded me and I think their connections for sticking with me."
