Dancing To Victory

Riverdance Lad looked to be a class above his rivals at Great Western on Sunday - which is why punters sent him out a hot odds-on favourite.

Unlucky when doing it very tough out wide at his previous outing, the lightly raced four-year-old had been in consistent form previously - filling placings at each of his first four outings.

Always travelling well for Jackie Beriman on Sunday, Riverdance Lad quickly claimed his rivals in the straight - challenged briefly before racing clear to salute by a soft two lengths.

"He is a horse who has always shown that he has the ability," Robbie said, "so it was nice to see luck turn around for him so that he could get the job done."

A son of Redoute's Choice's Group One winner Master Of Design, Riverdance Lad - a home-bred for Monomeith Stud Farm's Ross Hennessy - is the first foal for the Golden Snake mare Waltzing Lily.

Also the dam of a yet to be named two-year-old colt by Floral Pegasus, Waltzing Lily - a half-sister to the stakes placed 11 times winner Diggersanddealers - was served last spring by Melbourne Cup hero Americain.

This has been a good local family for generations, its members including the stakes winners Inspire, Our Joan Of Arc, Artist Man, Worth, Sudden, Restive, Victory Prince and star filly Burst.
