The outside barrier looked like it might make Beaverbrook's task in Wednesday's 1100m BM58 contest at Stawell a tricky one but aided by a lovely ride from Jye McNeil the three-year-old was able to get a nice spot mid-field.
Pushed wide turning under the steadier of 60kg, Beaverbrook was still able to let down well - racing clear to an impressive 2 1/4 length victory, the second of his eight start career.
"He did a great job to overcome that draw and show his class in the finish," Robbie Griffiths said, adding that "I am sure he will continue to move through the grades."
Raced by a large group of happy owners, Beaverbrook is a son of in-form stallion Written Tycoon and the lightly raced High Chaparral mare Thisisus. Also dam of the city winning Perth galloper Vonus, she is a half-sister to the New Zealand Listed winner Smitten Kitten.
Served last spring by Written Tycoon's fast son Winning Rupert, Thisisus hails from the family of Group One sprinters Yir Tiz and Mr Tiz.
