Two In A Row For Toorak
May 11, 2018
He is a horse who has always shown plenty of potential and it is great to see him realising it - Toorak Warrior at Echuca on Thursday impressively winning his second race in a row.
Up in class, weight and distance off his tough maiden victory at the same track late last month, Toorak Warrior had a less than ideal run after jumping a bit too well from a tricky outside gate.
Ending up racing wide, Toorak Warrior nevertheless travelled well for the in-form Jye McNeil who had him in a nice rhythm on the deterioating track.
"I was a little bit worried that he might get bogged down on that track with the weight he had," McNeil admitted.
"But it was a good effort and another string to his bow for sure."
"He had a tough enough run today, he covered a bit of ground but another assett we worked out is that he will probably get 1400m. There are good things to come for sure."
"He had really come of age and is starting to mature," said the stable's Reid Balfour who said that he was very happy for Toorak Warrior's "patient owners."
"Mentally he has always been a bit of a big baby but with a couple of preparations under his belt he is starting to come on and we are reaping the benefits."
The third leg of a winning treble for McNeil, Toorak Warrior was the second of a double for the stable. Happy days!
