Saveyourenthusiasm Salutes Again

Sep 12, 2018

Tough is the best way to describe Saveyourenthusiasm, a horse who seems to fare best when asked for his effort a long way from home - not a horse who responds to pretty rides!

It is Rhys McLeod who gets the best out of the five-year-old who was back in the winners circle at Moe on Tuesday, doing a good job recording his second victory from his last three starts.

Settling well just off the pace, Saveyourenthusiasm was asked for his effort well before the turn and approaching the corner he was in front as his rivals spread across the track.

They all had their chance to run him down but the bay just kept finding - giving a little kick half way down the straight, holding on well as runner-up Shock Shock put in a late charge.

"I was not sure right on the line," McLeod admitted, "but all credit to the horse, he toughed it out really well."

"He takes quite a bit of riding and I had to get at him pretty early but he stuck to the job well, it was a good, solid win."

Whilst unsure as to the reason for Saveyourenthusiasm's previous average run, the stable's Reid Balfour noted that overall the horse's form has been consistent this time in.

"We had been happy with him since his last run and he was up to the mile today which suited him."

"He is suited by Rhys' style - he had to put him under pressure a long way out but luckily he is a strong fit rider and he got the job done."
