Angel Delivers

A bit of pressure with Angel Lass being sent out an odds-on favourite first up at Sale on Monday but the promising three-year-old was able to deliver thanks to a combination of her natural talent and a cool ride by Michael Dee.

aving her first run since a Sandown second in late January, the consistent filly jumped well but did not have the pace to herself with Dee noting that "a few things didn't go right for her - those out wider made us work, and she was pretty close to her top the whole way."

"So it was a good effort - and she had a good blow pulling up, there is improvement to come and she will probably get out a bit further this preparation."

"She will take benefit from that," said the stable's Beth Schroen who is looking forward to seeing what Angel Lass can do as she makes her way through the classes - a Caulfield 1100m contest on Saturday week already pencilled in.

"She has matured mentally and physically from her last preparation and hopefully she will be able to step up."

A two times winner and three times placed from just seven starts, Angel Lass - who races in the bright yellow colours of Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock - is a daughter of the late Hinchinbrook and the winning Tale Of The Cat mare Angel Of Avalon whose dam is the US stakes winner Sunriseontheoasis.

Last spring producing a Your Song colt, Angel Of Avalon can boast amongst her close relations the Group winners Title Contender and Winter Garden whilst a bit further back she is related to the legendary Nijinsky II - to whom she is line-bred 5 X 6.
