Hits The Right Note
Dec 06, 2015
A horse we have always had a bit of time for, Single Note was able to break her maiden in impressive fashion at Geelong on Sunday.
Having only her fourth start, the well related daughter of Not A Single Doubt had not had the best of luck at her first few starts but a lovely ride by Matthew Allen gave her the chance to show her best.
Enjoying a trial behind the leaders on the rails, Single Note was angled off their heels approaching the turn and was clear into the straight, quickly heading to the lead and putting a margin on her rivals.
Raced by Bambatu Thoroughbreds (managers Peter Macvean & Andrew Lafontaine), Robbie Griffiths, Oliver Kysela, Barbara Phelan, Mark Rodda, Jeremy Morris, Glenn McFarlane, Frank Giacco, Mitch Mckay, Colin Pascoe, Scott Mcrae, Frank Pasquale, Louise Donnelley, Guy Donnelley and Frank Romeo, Single Note was purchased at last year's Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale for $75,000.
Bred by Hillside Parade Racing & Breeding, Single Note is the third foal produced by the unraced Falbrav mare Blue Note, a half-sister to the triple Group One winner Mentality (Randwick Guineas, George Main Stakes, Champagne Stakes).
Hailing from a strong American family whose members include the big race winners Fara's Team, Concern and Mr McCartney, Blue Note produced an Epaulette colt in November. She is also the dam of the rich Inglis Premier race run at Mornington last year.
