Deserved Win for Soaked

Apr 19, 2015

It had been a while in between drinks for Soaked who was strong to the line recording a much deserved victory at Cranbourne last Friday night.

Looking well placed at the mile having railed home gamely over 1412m at his previous start at Seymour, the consistent six-year-old was kept safe by punters and those supporting him would've been happy with how he travelled.

Recovering off a tardy start to settle just off mid-field, Soaked was patiently steered by Matthew Allen who had him into the clear at the 400m - the gelding quickly gathering in his rivals before racing away by 1 1/2 lengths.

"He deserved that win," Allen said, noting that "he has been racing well but he has not always had the best of luck."

Don Healy agreed - "he has been a consistent horse but with his racing style he is just one who needs things to go his way and that doesn't always happen."

The winner of three races - and 20 times placed - Soaked has been a fun horse for connections Elvis Cash, Balcony Boys, Neil Leyden, David Ward, Jenny Kelly, Karen Alberts, Kaz Morphett, Paul Miall, Chris Zoanetti, Don Smith, Ken Smith, Jeff Smith, Lyn Griffiths and Sandy Bonaviri.
