Assassin Strikes

Feb 20, 2016

A deserved winner on the back of consistent form, Beautiful Assassin proved too strong for her rivals stepping up to 2030m at Werribee on Friday.

Close up at previous outings - not always having the best of luck - the daughter of Wanted had been held up for runs at Bendigo having been forced wide at Werribee before that.

It was a smoother run for her in transit this time, Beautiful Assassin settling three lengths of the pace and finishing off gamely under the urgings of Ryan Maloney.

A mare who rarely runs a bad race, she has taken a while to learn her craft, at times wanting to over-race a touch but now relaxing enough to be tried over a bit of ground.

Whilst her sire Wanted, a son of Fastnet Rock, is best known for his Newmarket Handicap victory, Beautiful Assassin hails from a family whose members can cover distance, her imported dam Ylang Ylang a winner over 2200m.

This is a family that has fared well in this part of the world, producing the local stakes winners Kuroshio, Believe 'N' Succeed and Bounding.
