Crowley Charges At Debut
Mar 03, 2016
Sent out a hot odds-on favourite on the strength of great trial form, the promising Crowley did not let his supporters down when recording a stunning debut victory at Sale on Sunday.
Taking a sit after jumping well from an inside gate, the Written Tycoon three-year-old got into the clear turning and after cruising up to his rivals early in the straight he was able to draw clear from the 200m.
Saluting by the wide margin of 3 1/2 lengths with plenty in hand, Crowley could not have been more impressive and Robbie is excited about his potential, labelling him "a very smart horse."
Raced by Robbie with Deane Lester and Forest Lodge Racing, Crowley - cleverly named by Lester after the poet Aleister Crowley - is out of the four times winning Danasinga mare Whinewomen'N'Song.
Bred in Tasmania by the Deballa Trust and secured for just $10,000 at the Tasmanian Magic Millions, Crowley is a grandson of the New Zealand Gr.3 winner Mynzawine.
His sire Written Tycoon has been in great form of late and Crowley boasts an interesting pedigree with crosses of the great Australian stallions Marscay and Vain.
