She Can Win!

Mar 14, 2015

It was no surprise that lightly raced filly She Can Shazam was sent out favourite at Ballarat on Thursday, the three-year-old having found the line so well at her first two outings.

Really finishing off nicely when resuming at Ballarat late last month, the bay appreciated a step up from 1200m to 1400m and she was always travelling nicely for Ryan Maloney.

Enjoying a good trail just behind the speed, She Can Shazam hooked out into the clear in the straight and really charged over the final stages - getting to the line with her nose locked with consistent colt Go Zeus.

A photo could not separate the pair, a dead-heat declared with Robbie noting that the filly was a tad unlucky - "she was just held up a touch at the turn which probably cost us outright victory."

"But it is better to share a win than lose!"

And Robbie was happy to share the prize with neighbouring trainer Chris Hyland - "we kept it in the area!"

Pulling up well, She Can Shazam will progress to a 1400m event at Sandown with Robbie confident that she will continue to improve as she rises in distance - "being a daughter of Zabeel."

Raced by her breeder, Yarradale Stud's Ron Sayers, She Can Shazam is a full sister to the dual Gr.1 winning Hong Kong star Packing Winner (pictured) from a strong black-type family whose members include the stakes winners Captiva, Bigelow, Adagietto, Emmalene, Southern Lord and Lut's Choice.
