It Is Written Stars at Moonee Valley - again!

Feb 07, 2015

There have only been four runnings of the Listed Abell Stakes at Moonee Valley - and It Is Written has won two of them!

With 58.5kg nosing out Le Bonsir in the 1200m contest twelve months ago, It Is Written this time around bore the steadier of 60kg but was again too strong.

Overcoming trouble in running - throwing his head up after being accidentally hit over the head by the whip of Craig Williams aboard Tudor - It Is Written found the line in his customary determined way.

Conceding Tudor - who had given a nice kick at the turn - no less than 6kg, It Is Written wore that horse down - regular rider Matthew Allen proud that the six-year-old was able to win in such game fashion.

"I didn't want to give Tudor too much of a start as we were giving him a lot of weight - but to my bloke's credit he dug in and got there at the finish."

Described by Don Healy as "a stable favourite - these consistent horses are always popular"- It Is Written - a horse who "always gives his all" has won ten of his 44 starts amassing over $650,000 in stakes.

Seven of those victories have come at Moonee Valley including two of his three stakes wins.

A real character around the stables - known to pick up a rake and help out a bit with the cleaning - It Is Written is owned by a large and enthusiastic group, many of whom were on hand for the celebrations on Friday night.

Amongst that group was Peter Malbourne who was enjoying every second of that winning feeling - "that was sensational!" he enthused, "what a great evening!"

It is especially apt that Peter race a horse who loves Moonee Valley so much with his parents upon immigrating from Sussex making their first Australian home in Moonee Ponds... in fact right across the road from the top of the straight!
