A Maiden Act

Sep 19, 2015

It was a much deserved victory for Faithful Act at Pakenham on Saturday, the game four-year-old breaking through for his maiden victory on the back of consistent form.

In the placings at his four previous outings, the son of Keep The Faith had not always had the best of luck, at the same track earlier in the month working hard on pace but still holding on for a gutsy third.

Again on Saturday he did not have the easiest of runs from an outside gate, pressuring the leader from the 700m but always travelling well for Reece Wheeler - taking the lead straightening and getting clear despite wanting to race greenly.

Ducking in over the final stages he still has plenty in hand, proving 3/4 too strong for his rivals.

"He has been knocking on the door so it was good to see him get the job done," Robbie said

"He has always shown talent so hopefully he can go on with it now."

Raced by Sarah Rochstein, Josephine Pepper, Matthew Scholten, Neil Mckissock, Denise McKissock, Kent Williams, Steve Tucker, Dennis Malcolm and Carole Malcolm, Faithful Act is a son of Keep The Faith and the city placed Geiger Counter mare Counteract whose dam is the VRC Oaks & 1000 Guineas winner Rom's Stiletto (pictured).
